Su got scared of piercing.

Yesterday the girls and I decided to go and get our eras pierced at this tiny shop in the university campus which is famous for painless piercing. And the guy is really good.
Sadly, Sancho's mom didn't allow her, on account of her already sporting 2 holes in her ears. So me and Su went forward and visited the little shop which was already overflowing with students getting more pierced on their eyebrows, ears , inside the ears and all. One particular girl stood out for wearing 16 pairs of rings in total. Her left ear was half pierced already and she came to him to get the hole thing holed! A mesh according to me.
I stuck my head in the huddle and chose my studs and went to get pierced, pretty uneventful but he after effect pleased me and now i have three holes punched in each ear. And this was the time Su decided to chicken out from the whole thing after watching a feisty teenager wince on getting a stud on the inside of her ear.
We started walking towards McDonalds as we had to kill time before Sancho met us when Su decided to go for it, We walked back to shop which was still crowded, after waiting for few minutes, su once again got the pre-piercing jitters and we walked away.
Now sitting comfortably at McD's, we were chomping away on our burgers when Su once again, in a fit off adrenaline decided to go for it and we ran towards the shop before she changed her mind. We pushed past the huddle and got her in first. She stood, in fear of the tiny needle "hole-ing" her and in a second it was all over. She didn't feel a think! Great job!
My Ear! I Luv it!!
Later on we walked the streets of Janpath and CP buying odd stuff from purses to posters and a lot of studs for our newly holed ears! Sancho wanted a dress that the guy claimed to be from a famous Spanish label and no amount of haggling would get the price down she left, a disappointed person.
CP was streaming with some tourists wearing funny clothes, some fashionable and then there were the drop dead gorgeous tourists.Ah! we had a fun time, watching them as we did on troubling the shopkeepers(We very pleasantly told the some tourists the real price of the item they wanted before the shopkeeper could quote an absurdly high price!) And yes, we were glared at by the shopkeeper and his cronies and we made our way out fast!

Free Garlic Bread

Dominoes service has been deteriorating lately, with home delivery, which is perpetually late and customer care people on phone, who’d rather be chatting and gossiping with each other.
So yesterday when I and Bhai stood at the counter to place our orders, he made an observation that Dominoes looked over employed! And it did! There were loads of blue uniformed people inside the kitchen frolicking away in their pizza gossip and chatter. The one taking the order thought it was fun to chat with his other friend on the next phone and ignore the customers, so here we stood waiting to place our orders as over-zealous party poopers argued over the best possible discount they could get.
After much pushing and jostling and trying to get the man’s attention, we placed our orders and left to hunt for Pepsi. Returning a half an hour later, our order was still not ready and when we inquired, they suddenly got off to a start and started making our pizza then. So we were late and really pissed off by then.
As we stood arguing over the time limit and whether we should complain or not, I guessed they heard us and in an instant we were presented with a box of the cheesiest garlic bread-sticks. Chomping away as we waited, the idiots finally decided to give us our pizzas and we left.
This got me thinking on the unprofessional attitude of these places where they are so overtly confident that customers would wait for them and give in to their whims and fancies. It is plainly annoying.

Why Ranbir Kapoor is losing female respect.

Poor Ranbir Kapoor has found himself in a soup of his own making. A known womanizer and celebrated playboy, his antics left him red faced recently when a couple of his exes decided to come together and bad mouth him at Karan Johar’s Talk show few weeks back.
Koffee with Karan, few weeks ago was full of hilarity and much bitterness as Deepika Padukone made slight comments on Ranbir’s lascivious ways. Just a week before, the media was rife with Ranbir’s list of girlfriends and his apparent “handling” of them all, so it came as a much relief to the feminine me to see Deepika retaliate this way.
The kapoor family has always been notorious for playing with women with the legendary filmmaker, Raj kapoor leading the roost. Following in the his grandfather’s footsteps is Ranbir whose famous conquests include Avantika(Imran Khan’s fiancĂ©e), Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif.
Some months ago, the relationship of Deepika and Ranbir sizzled all over with pics of them in a lip-lop a rage in the town. So while Ranbir had no qualms with PDA with his girlfriend and discussing his private life in the public, it comes as a surprise that he is annoyed at Deepika’s comments now. When they could flaunt their “love”, it’s almost natural that a broken hearted Deepika would pass bitter comments.
As a ring leader of women nursing their broken hearts and not afraid of speaking out aloud, I like Deepika’s way of coming up front and declaring to the whole world what Ranbir exactly is. He sure has lost a lot of female respect in these days.
Another person, losing respect these days is Ranbir’s father Rishi kapoor who is angry at the verbal attacks on Ranbir and has refused to work with Karan Johar ever again.
Poor Mr. Johar is caught up in the messy break-up situation.
Break Ke Baad. Doesn’t seem like a good thing, Does it?

Shopping and sleeping

1st Dec..!! The date with the most birthdays..!!
And topping the list is my Mom.!!!!!!
This time, Dad is in Kalimpong and Mom is here, so I was rudely woken up by my cell phone blaring at 6 in the morning(when I had slept at 2, it was offensive, to say the least). It was dad calling on my cell to scold us for not wishing Mom at the earliest(We were blissfully sleeping!!!!). Taking in the reproach, I shut my cell and once again succumbed to the illicit pleasure of a blanket in the chilly wintry morning.
As we woke up at normal human time, we presented Mom with our gift(something we had spent hours looking for in the mall yesterday) and then it was time for my mom;' shopping.
Imagining it to be a pleasurable trip in the mall, I was shocked to know that we were going for plain old grocery shopping(ewww!). It was a ghastly experience(as usual) in the Taurus Canteen, which has achieved new levels of "sucking". Me and my cousin pushed the dilapidated trolleys through the roads and the pathways and it was a good arm workout(Looking on the brighter side!). The canteen was was a mess with items strewed all over, old people running amok and crazy females in coats trying to break the line!
After hours of trudging along, the torture ended and we came home for a homely lunch as my poor cousin took in the role of a coolie, carrying all the bags up.
Then the three of us settled in the living room, darkened it and then sat on the couch to watch the Social network again, chomping on goodies that we had whisked from the cupboard.
And then it stuck! The damn migraine again which had been annoying me for the past two days. so I had to abandon my place on the couch and retreat into the darkness and warmth of my room to sleep it off.Something which becomes an arduous task as my head beats from inside and every sound and movement is magnified 100 times.
And now I am awake, waiting for another set of cousins to come and eat the delicious chocolate cake in the fridge!

Why I hate customer Care

Everyone hates customer care. Those pesky people who call you at the most inappropriate time and keep blabbering in you ear about some product or a new scheme. Most of the time I politely shut them off but today afternoon they really annoyed me.
I was blissfully texting my hot neighbour, who was replying to me at the same speed and I was in heaven when this idiotic person from DishTV decides to call me a chat about the new connection I had ordered. Since it was something relevant, i listened to him jabber on and on about the new schemes and the details on my form and all assorted crap while my phone buzzed repeatedly indicating that new messages were streaming in regularly.
I was running out of patience when the nerve of the man! he decided to put me on hold while he went to get more "details about the package I was buying". Arrgh!!! My patience was zapped up and I was praying that my neighbour doesn't think i was blowing him off.
So after an hour of pure telephonic torture, I returned to check the messages on my cell, which were plenty but my neighbour was now missing.Probably off somewhere.
So here I was, back in my Single world all thanks to the great DishTV customer person who had informed me that he would call me up again tomorrow to let me know more details.
I can't wait.NOT.

A long long time

After a hiatus of...a very long time, thanks primarily to my fifth semester, I am back!
Yesterday was the last theory exam and deviating from tradition, where I generally rush back home at the first moment, I decided to go out with my girls.
We had a whole girlie evening planned with haircuts and beauty salons and as we stepped into the Jawed Habib's  haircut box(that's what it looked like!) we were met with a large crowd.
Three of us decided to go for it with me and sancho going in first. The hair cutter(because i don't know what they are called!) was decent enough(atleast mine was)while Sancho's decided to flirt with her and test her knowledge on different haircuts!
We window shopped, waited for Su to finish her burger, grouped over a single box of Hot Garlic noodles and walked till the metro station.
It was great to have 10-10 with us which was a complete surprise. And the whole time, in the metro, on the road, in the mall, we talked and laughed. A start to a great holiday where I have decided not to run away from Delhi and instead revel in the chilly wintry mist of Delhi.
Next on the itinerary: Multiple piercings on the 6th!

From Punjab, with Love

Last week the first wedding of the family's wedding season Kicked off with my cousin getting hitched in Amritsar. It was a standard affair with loud raucous, wild dances and heavy party food. The highlight of the event was the absence of single cousins and only three of us turned up.So we were bunched up with the kids on the sidelines. The new family generation has finally sprung up with my latest niece being born just a day before the festivities kicked off. With a tally of six, I now have a healthy brood of young kids who i can finally call cute(I am tempted to kick other small kids).
I fell in love with Punjab last week. The atmosphere, the happy go lucky people, the feel of the environment and the FOOD! The place has to be on the list of everyone's Top Places to Visit. En route to Amritsar, we encountered roadside eateries which balanced their lack of hygiene with pure charismatic smile and hospitality. The many mustard fields on either side of the road reminded me of DDLJ and many suck movies.Trucks with funny quotes on them and the incomprehensible Punjabi language, where my exploits with it left many of the elders in hysterics!!
A funny thing about this state is the way people start dancing. At first it is scary and then becomes funny when they start making loud noises in tune with the music. I still fail to understand why people in Punjab find it necessary to lift their foot up, wave their hands and jump in sync with each other. Such jumps are sometimes followed by an intense exercise routine on the floor a la sit ups. At least the girls maintain some decorum while dancing and cease their footwork.
Marriages they say are made in heaven but Indian Weddings are the way to go.!!

Gastronomic Disaster of DTU. x-(

Never before had I been in a relationship with a toilet and trust me it is not very pleasant. Welcome to the DTU Girl's Hostel, Home to the homeless junk and the place to dispose off your kitchen garbage.
Despite the many attempts to mask the oh-so-tempting odour emanating from the food, we have as of yet succeeded in only annoying the mess staff who insist on calling us "shishter" in that weirdly annoying, condescending tone of theirs.
And to satisfy our hunger, we are offered ultra watery Dal, dry vegetables with potato as their ring leader and murky, stinky sweet-dish which tastes like rubber once it starts getting cold.We wonder where they get their ration from. The land of the rotting Rations..??
Not only have they managed to scare away good food, they have also succeeded in giving much more business to the roadside eateries that plague the university and the humble mech canteen. So now I not only remember the menu of the canteen but also have become proficient in giving advice to the many hunger struck girls.! Ha!!
As for the mess menu is concerned, I am least bothered by the trash they serve us, when they use crappy stuff as they do, every other food item causes the girls to rush into the toilet and spend their time admiring the yellowing walls in the fading light.
For weight watchers like me, this has become an easy excuse to ditch food and not get scoldings from people around me. A diet on the go..!
Go DTU mess!! and help me drop off those pounds..!!!

Hair and Haunted

I had always wanted to visit a haunted house filled with many scary, broken, bloodied corpses like statues. Figures of vampires rising from the coffin and the ever so clichéd bloodied mummy.
Today, I and my cousins went to the nearest haunted house and decided to “get scared”.
Filled with anticipation, the three of us stepped inside the dark corridor and were greeted by a little green monster, awash in red light. Dismissing it faintly, though my ten year old cousin thought it was a good opportunity to scream, we walked further only to find our legs caught in a flurry of gloved hands. With thumping hearts, we stuck to the instruction of following the red arrows when they promptly disappeared.
Now was the time for the “brave-heart” me to freak out citing reasons varying from getting a heart attack to getting lost in the maze and dying of getting scared. So we decided (after I had amply scared my ten year old sis with my ideas) to turn back and were greeted by the very amused doorman.
The bemused man then offered to accompany us and we followed him, relieved to an extent.
Personally I am scared shit of the “haunted and scary” and this episode did nothing to boost my Leo ego.Sheesh!
So I kept a straight eye on the man’s yellow T shirt, ignoring the creaks and the screams and the jumping goblins and werewolves. It was only when I saw the light at the other end that I rushed out to safety.
This cannot be said for my sisters who enjoyed a full view and experience of the haunted house and even managed to get a skeleton walk after them, occasionally tousling their hair or grabbing their hands or feet. Personally I think he was just a lecherous skeleton, trying to enjoy some moments off the grave..!

Construction and the ITCH

My days pass in a blur as the labour zooms around the house, taking down walls, cementing the holes, ripping off floors and putting on new ones. The dust that plagues the house has now become a constant companion. So everyday as I step out of the bath, I am greeted by a large cloud of cement dust, which does not stop from roughing up newly conditioned hair.
If you think sitting in a locked room is cleaner still, the condition worsens with the bed clogging with dust, the floor turning from a smooth white to a mucky brown. The whole air around the house is filled with the nauseating aura of cement, machinery and rocks.
I valiantly survive each day, eagerly waiting for the end result where the house will look all new and shiny.
Can't wait!!

In sickness and in health

The renovation at my grandparent's house is in full swing with dirt and debris cluttering the house. Now my room has been taken over by the forces of the labour and I am resorted to sit in my makeshift bedroom, the drawing room.Improvising on the situation, I created a door with suitcases and dragged the mattress all the way from the bedroom to the living room.So now, my room has 24x7 fridge access which my previous self would have loved but the new diet conscious me, resents.
Another development on the writing front is the publishing of my article on the Mumbai underworld in the university's online newspaper, Indian Fusion.Yay!
Coming to the point, in sickness and in health has no marital annotations as I am a mere victim of food poisoning thanks to my granny's birthday. Stuffing goodies in my mouth has never been so expensive as it has been now. And neither have I managed to become so familiar with the toilet as I have now become, a regular visitor to it since four in the morning. So here I am, in sickness and in health, typing away happily! My only bliss.

Rain Rain, the Rain Pain

It was just another hot and sultry day as the two of us walked the grounds of the Metro Walk mall(for no other better choice of words) window shopping to our heart’s delights. With inputs from many girls in the hostel we checked out the display of jewellery, fawned over the new clothes and gushed over the soft toys that were at display(How I wish I had them!).
After two hours of seemingly mindless walking around, we decided to head back to our college and much to our delight it started drizzling. As the thick droplets fell around us, we scrambled to hire an auto and rush back in when a creepy guy came up to us.
He started in coherently explain to us that he was a driver of taxi in our college and rather emphasized on the part where he came and went and came and went and came and went.
As it was getting darker, we ignored him and walked towards the auto farthest away from him, but he followed us there and when we walked away, he called after us, even walking following us for some time.
Disgusted, we crossed the road and as the rainfall became harder, we searched in vain for a ride back to college when another auto from the creepy guy’s concierge came and offered to drop us back. So on our way back, as the rain poured even more heavily, the poor auto driver apologized for the behavior of his ‘friend” saying he was stone drunk.
Funnily enough, it was later in the evening, while chatting with a friend that we came to a realization that the drunk man who so openly misbehaved with us was none other than the lone driver of our university’s buggy, known for his roving eye and “connections” within the college admin.
Thanks to his connections, he has a free reign in the college and thanks to the strong student community, we all avoid him.
Go DCE!

AISHA...

For all the fashionistas in the town, this movie is a must watch. Peppered with clothes from Dior, Louis Voutton and Gucci, it is a visual treat to behold the designs and the ensemble of haute couture the movie fits in its running time. The sets have been impeccably designed and Delhi had never looked so much better with the roads of def colony and Hauz khas on the show. The houses are a tribute to the Delhi elite and the cast has the brats and frats of the rich, driving around, taking in multiple shots and air kissing everyone.
Technically, Rhea kapoor, has made it into a slug fest of everything girly, from the dresses, interiors and the dialogues. Sonam Kapoor rises above her last film and delivers a passably nice performance and Abahy deol charms his way into the female hearts with his dimples and smile.
The story is flawless, an adaptation of Emma and the music is new, filled with zest and zing.
There are few flaws, with people forgetting to emote and choosing a weird looking actor to play the part of a hunk(although he does have a HOT body) and bad jokes.
Ira dubey, as the faithful sidekick is by far the best as is Cyrus  Sahukar who keeps up the fun tempo in the film. The love story between the main characters is somewhat smudged in the whole film and lacks the typical bollywood essence to it.
A fairly decent movie and one which leaves you filled with a sense of girlish pleasure in you and awakes that dormant fahionising girl you put to sleep.
So girls! Go and have fun!

Hostel and Rain

And so i am back in hostel, a new dingy environment, the same roomie, new posters and a new mess staff.Hostel Life is still the same.
Having shifted to another hostel building in a worse state than the previous one makes me miss the old hostel a lot but being back with the same old roomie cushions the blow. I guess, people do matter.
And to talk about the Delhi rain, it hit us suddenly as we stood outside the hostel. The thick droplets hit me hard on the face and I was overcome by temptation to dance in the rains a la bollywood style, but better sense prevailed and I just chose to enjoy it as it was. And then I got an emergency call and went off to rescue a friend from the torrent of rain.
So here I am, sitting in my newly furnished hostel from stolen furniture from every nook and cranny of the hostel and enjoying the weather.Hope it chills soon.!!

Madge's Birthday outfit

Seeing how really bored and useless our media is we have another feeble attempt at finding an Indian connection in the global media. And it comes from none other than Madonna, the freakishly old, wannabe singer. So it is up to the Indian media to publicise this "feat" by the designer duo Shane and Falguni Peacock who have Cheryl Cole, fergie and Lady Gaga as their celebrity clientele in Hollywood.
It is good that these two get to explore new opportunities and pave their way into Hollywood and most importantly into the international fashion scene.I can't wait for an Indian brand to become as famous as Chanel, Ralph Lauren and Valentino!
But then again the sheer stupidity of the whole Madge outfit story is the fact that her boyfriend,Jesus Luz intends it to be a "surprise" for her.Gee, great! announcing it to the world is a BIG surprise!
So dear Madge, On your Birthday, all the way from India...
SURPRISE!!!

CWG training and Happy bday SJ!

And then it was time for the Role specific training...! Despite what I had thought and hoped for it was pure technical work..! Arrgh! Yes, it was the low pointy of the training session that was highly sleep inducing and way to boring.
another highlight was the annoying Amity University whose reputation has hit a rock bottom in my mind. The pathetic canteen which was all show and no work, the horrible food, costly stuff and the muffin with a spider in it.! I wonder where the money goes..??
So it was upto SJz birthday to save the day as we roamed the travails of GIP nodia, a mall par excellence. We roamed around for a whole hour, laughed our heads off and inducted a new member in the PJ club! All in good fun..!

College Blues

It has been two days since college began and life has never been busier. With no hostel for many and few in the offing, we have been reduced to mere street walkers. Rushing from one metro to other, changing trains, keeping the hairstyle perfect and the dress in check, it has never been so tiring.
With the advent of third year, the college looked gloomier than ever and adding to the sense of impending doom is the lack of those friendly faces of our seniors. Many changes have been around the college, most not good. So this session is a gloomy one to begin with and adding to the woes are classes on saturdays(arrrgh!!!!)
Despite it all, life had never been better with my friends of 2 years now(My longest ever!!).And it has been a season of discovering something new about them and loving them all over again..!! A special mention to them, Klasic, Sam2, Sonu, Custard, Sanchi and Rinkz. Love you all!
and yes to add to my troubles is the fact that i cannot continue my long manicure regimes, have no jute chappals and no jhola for my indian wear.
And then the damned MHC which make this one person so alluring..sheesh!!!

5th sem

Tomorrow is the advent of yet another semester adding to the list of my college years. As usual I start this ear with the annual newsletter of our society for which I am so proud!!
Adding to the back-to-school list is yet another shopping spree, traversing the lanes of flea markets and the rooms of high end stores like Westside and Lifestyle. A new haircut and I am raring to go.
There is another anticipation this year as another batch of seniors left the school and we are the 2nd most senior class.Nostalgia will flood the first few days as will excitement over a news tart, new books(really..???), movies, friends etc. And with my birthday just 12 days away,I am all for enjoying the last of my teens.
So,all plans for the commute are made, lip gloss in place, kohl all lined up, a trendy bag in tow and a brand new start!
Seems like my roomie and bestie Klasic will be out for few day and she will be sorely missed.Especially our lazy sessions in the room, watching movies together, chatting on the Internet while being in the same room, working together and the heart-to-hearts we share.Luv u and hope u come fast!

Echo 2010:Missing Engifest Tadka!!!

And finally it's done!!
The annual newsletter of IEEE-DTU is finally done after days of poring over articles, editing them, having a good laugh over them and banging my head in frustration.
Once again working for a magazine, collecting articles, editing them and designing them, I was filled with nostalgia over my Engifest Tadka days and sorely missed the whole team..!!!
From our impromptu laughter sessions, "uncoordinated high fives", (non)funny jokes and camaraderie, the ET team was the best I have ever worked on.
Taking this bit of nostalgia with me, i once again contacted some of my ET members for their articles and needless to say i wasn't disappointed. You guys rock!
The echo team has been great too, sending articles by the deadline and being supportive. Seeing that everyone was enthused over writing this and some were over excited, the newsletter increased from its usual 8 pages to 10.
And the best thing was that the whole newsletter is done much before the deadline.I rule!!! ;)
And not without the help of the guy who got everyone in, UT, special credit goes to him!
But still, me being overtly nostalgic, I miss the ET team..!!!
Here is a teaser of ECHO.

Entrapment

A short piece I wrote for the word "entrapment".

blood.jpg revamped image by ezboizShe cowered inside her imaginary tower, trying hard to understand what was happening. She knew she was not at fault and yet she was being blamed. Her heart thudded in her chest and her head throbbed hard. She sucked in deep breaths and swallowed hard, gritting her teeth hard to avoid speaking.
She had once again disappeared inside the dark abyss of her sanctuary and she knew it will take time for her to break through the barriers. She waited for it to be over and for her tormentor to retire. The mute spectators crowded around her in mild curiosity, none able to help her through. She struggled through the dark stormy sea alone, fighting the huge waves lashing all over her, going under and then surfacing.
It had been another era, many ages ago, now she was in light, free from the depths she had been forced to plunge into. But then it returned and she swiveled right into it all over again.
She sat contemplating her revenge, helpless. She could do no more and yet she thought of what she could if she had the chance. But then she saw her nemesis struggling hard and it all washed over her. Because sometimes, despite how we feel and how much we are troubled, she could feel the tug of blood inside her. For they both shared the same.
And despite the atrocities faced by her, despite what she felt and despite what they said to her, she knew she could not do it. She was trapped in an ages old web of duty, commitment and relationships. Relations, the unseeing bond which bound all humans, which formed the rules and norms of our actions. She suffocated in silent misery because the tug was too strong. The tug of blood.

A Family get-together: A doggy affair

Yesterday was like any other Sunday, lazy, warm and fuzzy until we decided to backpack our way to a family get-together at my uncle's home. Normal enough. But then my dog, Casper started throwing a tantrum(yes, a doggy tantrum!) and we decided to take him along.
So it was a family of four with a doggy in tow and two grandparents who set off to the uncle's house. Squished in a normal sized family car, Casper decided that he wanted to hog the whole of the AC of the car and set off, improvising on his positions till he had one paw on my leg, another on my sister's arm and yet another on my mother's lap. Now he was bang in the centre of the car, right in front of the ac with his white hair flowing all around him.he loved it and blissfully ignored the bumps and jerks of the road and the fact that he could barely manage to stand in that position he had fashioned and was constantly slipping.
We reached our destination, thankful to get out of the car as our cramped legs stretched after the two hour road journey.
We then went to pay a customary visit to another aunt's place and now had another cousin in the car with us. Sans our grandparents, we found enough space to play a game of cards and this time we forced Casper to sit in the co-driver's seat which he readily accepted much to his amusement. Our game was not yet over when we reached our destination and so we decided to continue in the sweltering heat inside the car.
Lunch was a standard affair as richie managed to spoil 3 Ferraro Rochers :( before finally getting the fourth one in his mouth. Before much tragedy happened, we three girls decided to get hold of our share of chocolates and then enticed Richie with a brightly wrapped silver coloured cereal bar.he liked it because it was the biggest of the lot.
We then locked ourselves in the bedroom for another round of our game as the adults chatted in the living room. And we managed an improvised version of blackjack improving our math skills. the house served as a reminder for the fun we had when our two other cousins lived there.
Missed them a lot yesterday and our game of Tableux, playstations, twix and the summer heat.
Hope to meet the two of you soon..!!!
And yes, during the return journey too, casper tried to stand right in front of the AC but we pushed him down on the seat.

Sohrabuddin Sheikh Encounter:Evil or a necessary?

In the early 2000's Gujrat and Rajasthan were plagued by the tyranny of a local goon Abdul Latif. He soon paved his way through the underworld of the region carving a notch for himself as one of the most dreaded criminals. Later, as is with every underworld don, he joined hands with Dawood Ibrahim and went to join him in his exploits over the underworld of the country. He had a driver, Sohrabuddin Sheikh and as is the case with all such drivers he was a multitasker, a dreaded criminal and extortionist. In May 2000, he was kept under the police watch and it was discovered that he was responsible for storing huge caches of weapons and ammunition  involved in the 1993 Mumbai blasts. With enough evidence of his connections with the underworld and terrorist groups, he, along with his wife Kausar Bi were killed in an alleged "fake encounter".
This begs the question of how necessary was this encounter and who gains from it?
The police claimed that he was conspiring to assassinate chief Minister Narender Modi and his killing was justified.
Personally, killing of a dreaded criminal, who had around 50 cases against him and had an involvement in terrorism of the country is justice to the world. He was wanted in many countries and despite the shady nature of his death, they rejoice it. But human rights activists, anti BJP people and pro congress individuals have made it into a big political mess of allegations and finger pointing.
What people all over should realise is that even if the encounter was fake and staged, it was to kill a dreaded criminal who would have helped along with many other terror hits in the country. by killing one person, the police saved millions of innocent lives. But this is now a political game with the ruling party plotting to evict and convict the chief minister and his aides involved in the encounter.
Today one of his chief aides might be arrested and for me, it is a blasphemy. Something which should not ever happen.Sohrabbudin's death was a poetic justice and in doing so the country's goodwill was in consideration, whatever the given reasons are.
People should understand the circumstances and the fact that they are a tad bit safe now. he might have been a small fish in the terrorism and underworld nexus but maybe because of his death, they are now alive.
